Thymolphthalein is an organic reagent. The appearance is a white powder with a melting point of 253 ℃. It is easily soluble in ether, acetone, sulfuric acid, and alkaline solutions, but insoluble in water. Thymolphthalein is commonly used as an acid-base indicator, with a pH color range of 9.4-10.6 and a color change from colorless to blue.When used, it is often prepared into a 0.1% of 90% ethanol solution, and is also often prepared into a mixed indicator with other indicators to make its color change range narrower and observation clearer.
